If you want to have the highest possible impact, then picking the right cause area is a vital step. But among promising candidates, there are many reasons to be uncertain about which areas are best. A particularly difficult kind of uncertainty to grapple with is normative uncertainty, or uncertainty about the fundamental moral principles that underpin every decision you make.
